If you know this path, its useful you can manually download the IPSW file for your iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch via your IDM and can place in this folder if you are having some problem in downloading them via your iTunes. After placing the correct IPSW file in the exact folder, you can upgrade your device without the need of downloading the file directly from the iTunes, since iTunes will now detects the most recent file in that folder, so it will not ask you to download the file again from the Apple Servers via iTunes Downloader.
