In a recent blog post, 343 Industries has committed to avoiding the long seasons of Halo Infinite’s past. The head of live performance, Sean Baron, addressed concerns surrounding the title’s “seasonality” in a post on Xbox Wire. Baron clarified that seasonality is all about consistency and expressed confidence in the improvements made in Season 3. Halo Infinite’s Season 2, Lone Wolves, was released over ten months ago, and the game enjoyed a season 2.5 in the form of the Winter Update. Tech Leaks is excited to see how 343 Industries will continue to improve the consistency of Halo Infinite’s seasons.aks.us/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/localimages/eEycBVbi2DKUTmZgRPvyiL.jpg”>
Ten months is an incredibly long time for a gaming community to wait for a new season, especially when compared to other multiplayer titles like Apex: Legends and Overwatch 2. However, the wait for Halo Infinite’s first season is finally over, and players can now dive into the game’s new content.
Halo Infinite’s first season, titled “Heroes of Reach,” brings a plethora of new features and content to the game. The season’s main focus is on the iconic Spartan soldiers of the Reach planet, with new customization options, weapons, and vehicles inspired by the Halo: Reach game.
One of the most exciting additions to the game is the new multiplayer mode, called “Academy.” This mode is designed to help new players learn the ropes of the game and improve their skills, with a variety of training exercises and challenges.
In addition to the new mode, players can also enjoy new maps, game modes, and challenges, as well as a new Battle Pass system that rewards players with unique cosmetics and items as they progress through the season.
Overall, Halo Infinite’s first season is a promising start for the game’s future content, and fans can look forward to even more exciting updates and additions in the coming months. So, gear up, Spartans, and get ready to save the galaxy once again!Halo Infinite Season 3, Echoes Within, has just launched on March 7th, and as expected, a new 100-level Battle Pass is now available for players. However, to get the most out of it, fans will need to purchase the premium version of the pass. But don’t worry, free-to-play users will still receive plenty of goodies, including two new free armor cores: the fan-favorite, throwback ONI-ish looking Spartan core, “Mirage,” and the more bonkers core, “Chimera,” which is tied to the Season 3 Fracture event.
Fracture events are special occasions where players of all stripes can work together to unlock tiers of a free, limited-time Battle Pass, usually themed around a particular armor set or aesthetic. 343 Industries’ Brian Jarrard also promised to accommodate “different kinds of players” with the rewards on offer. “Some people hate cat ears on their Spartan – maybe they really want to keep investing in that hardcore, military… aesthetic. Some people, like me, love cat ears on their Spartan. That’s awesome. We’ll have both.”
Echoes Within may well mark a turning point in Halo Infinite’s turbulent history. The core gameplay loop at the heart of Infinite has been a faithful and joyous affair, impressively epitomizing the Halo experience. However, the Battle Pass which surrounds that experience has not always gone down well with players.
In Season 1, the free version of the Battle Pass was disappointingly spartan (pun intended). The love of the Halo: Reach cosmetics contained within the pass’ lofty tiers was sufficient to cause some players to purchase the premium version. However, many players have always felt somewhat cheated, almost as if Halo: Infinite was using their nostalgia for the title to steal their lunch money.
For this reason, many players refrained from buying Season 2’s Battle Pass. However, they did occasionally log on to enjoy the game’s events and their bite-sized, free Battle Passes. If more “consistency” from 343 Industries means more of these little nuggets of content and more generosity for the game’s non-premium users, then Season 3 could well spell a renaissance for the title, coaxing lost players back into the fold.
Either way, Season 3 has piqued the curiosity of many players enough to cause them to reinstall the game as they read this piece. Well played, 343, well played.
