Why Do We Have Multiple Weather Apps on Our Phones?
Like many people, you may have multiple weather apps on your phone. But why is that? Perhaps it’s because we want to find the most accurate forecast or maybe it’s just a strange app obsession. Regardless of the reason, there are many free weather apps available for Android, including The Weather Channel and AccuWeather.
The Weather Channel vs. AccuWeather
Both The Weather Channel and AccuWeather have over 100 million installs from the Play Store and offer free radar and widgets. The Weather Channel gets its weather data through a partnership with IBM, while AccuWeather is used by many commodity traders who base their investments on fundamentals.
For those trading Corn or rice contracts, the weather for the next few months might be good to know. And for those who want to customize their weather app experience, AccuWeather now supports the themed icon feature on Android 13. To enable this, go to Settings > Wallpaper & style and toggle on Themed icons.
New Features on AccuWeather App
9to5Google has spotted some changes to the AccuWeather app that will be available to both iOS and Android users. The app now shows a horizontal graph that tracks the current temperature and the hourly forecast over the next four hours. To see this, tap on the Hourly tab found at the bottom of the screen and make sure that you have the button on the upper right of the display set on Graph.
AccuWeather has also added a “Watch Live” option to the app. Tap the three-line menu icon on the upper left of the display and select Video with a red pill-shaped icon with the word “LIVE” in white. Tap on it and the stream will appear at the top of the screen.
Conclusion
Having multiple weather apps on our phones may seem strange, but it’s always good to have options. The Weather Channel and AccuWeather are both great choices for Android users, and with the new features on the AccuWeather app, it’s worth giving it a try.
