TL;DR
- A new report suggests that Google shipped almost 900,000 Pixel Watches in Q4 2022.
- However, this falls short of Samsung and Apple’s shipments during the same quarter.
- Google’s first watch is available in fewer markets than its rivals.
Google finally launched its highly anticipated Pixel Watch alongside the Pixel 7 series in October. The circular design and Google and Fitbit additions were well-received, but how did it perform commercially? We finally have some shipment figures.

According to Canalys, Samsung shipped 2.9 million wearables in Q4 2022, although figures for specific Galaxy Watch models were not disclosed. However, the chart above shows that Samsung’s smartwatch shipments still surpassed Google’s (which includes Fitbit smartwatches). This is not surprising, as Samsung has been offering watches for roughly a decade now, while Google’s wearable is its first proper smartwatch. Additionally, Galaxy watches are available in far more locales than Google’s wearable.
Both Google and Samsung were outperformed by Apple’s smartwatch shipments in Q4, with the Cupertino company reportedly shipping 13.8 million Apple Watches in the same quarter.
Overall, while Google’s Pixel Watch may not have been a commercial hit compared to its rivals, it’s important to note that this is Google’s first foray into the smartwatch market. With time and further development, it’s possible that Google’s wearable offerings will become more competitive.
