“Cast Your Vote: Is the iPhone SE a Necessary Addition to the Apple Lineup?”

Is it Time for Apple to Retire the iPhone SE?

As technology enthusiasts, we often question the logic and sanity behind modern smartphone business decisions. The latest topic of discussion is the iPhone SE, a budget-friendly option with the looks and feel of Apple’s main contenders. While the original SE turned heads, the second generation released in 2020 wasn’t as successful. The problem was that it used the iPhone 8 design, which was much more outdated compared to the iPhone 12 lineup, which was the most current at the time. The gap was much bigger.

The Main Issue

Apple somehow lost the initial idea to offer a cheaper version of its portfolio without sacrificing too much in terms of design and raw power. In my honest opinion, the third generation SE was a laughing matter, as it was stuck in time, hampered by old design choices and lazy engineering (or business decisions, I can’t be sure).

Now that rumors and talks about the next generation of the iPhone SE are starting to surface, some are questioning whether Apple should retire the SE range altogether. While some may argue that the SE is still a viable option, others believe that it’s time for Apple to move on.

Do We Really Need the iPhone SE?

As we did with the iPhone Plus, we’re asking our readers to weigh in on the topic. Do we really need the iPhone SE now that we have the Plus, and you can always get an older, vanilla iPhone for almost as cheap? Vote in the poll and share your Special Edition thoughts in the comments below.
